My Goals For (the rest of) 2017

We’re nearly at the end of 2017 (how did that happen?). I’m already super excited for 2018! I love fresh starts and setting my sights on what I want to achieve in the coming year. However, I know I will thank myself later if I really make the most of the rest of this year. Both my work and social life seem to get crazy busy towards Christmas, but I would love to have some time off around the holiday without feeling guilty, or like the work is going to be stacked up when I re-open my laptop. So after shovelling nut roast and wine into my mouth for the festive season, I would love to feel like I had left everything in good stead ready to enter 2018 with a bang. This all lead me to writing down a list of my goals for the next couple of months. I know it can be hard to stay motivated as it gets colder, and there are christmas songs that need to be danced to, but I thought this might help if you too want to boss the end of 2017.

When I first started this blog I was posting twice a week. I have no idea how I had time for it looking back because I was in my first year of drama school and things were mad, but I did. Over the past few months my number of posts has dropped massively, to the point where I was lucky if I posted one a month. I feel like I am picking it back up a bit, but in an attempt not to let it flop again I am going to commit to posting twice a week! Every Wednesday and Sunday. I know that is still not that many, but for me that is a somewhat achievable goal. As I’m sure you already know, I am a full time acting student in my third year of drama school. Along side rehearsals and shows, two posts a week is what is right for me at the time being. If you’re not already, you can subscribe to this blog by entering your email address at the bottom of the homepage that way you won’t miss a post. Also, you can check up on me to see if I’m sticking to my two posts a week promise.

Much like my blog posts, my Instagram feed goes through waves of me posting everyday, to be popping picture on every three weeks. Instagram is defiantly my favourite social media platform, as I love photography, and I love the editing process of photos and being able to share them with you all. However when it comes to my photos I am my own worst enemy. I’m such a perfectionist it can take me hours to feel I have the right shot, and even then I always doubtful of myself. My aim for the coming months is to share more. I know the more I share the less I worry about every picture being perfect, so I just have to have a bit more of  f*ck it attitude and press ‘share’.

Push My Posts

If you ever read a article on ‘how to improve your blog’ or ‘blogger hacks’ the reoccurring tip is to not be afraid to promote your posts. I was speaking to the lovely Maria (from MariaJ) a couple of weeks ago about schedular tweets. She said if you think about how many tweets are on everyones timeline, the chances of them seeing yours are so slim. So don’t feel like you can’t tweet a link to your blog post every hour if you want to. She is so right, I thought about it, and even me who I would consider a social media addict probably only opens twitter 2/3 times a day. So if someone has posted a link to there blog post once that day, the chances of me seeing it are extremely low. So, my third goal is to promote my posts more. At the end of the day, I have often spent hours putting them together and taking the photos. Why not be proud of them and make sure people see them.

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that I have been posting on my stories a lot more recently. The main thing I have been doing is posting singing videos of me and Harry. Singing in general is and has always been a massive part of my life, and singing with Harry is something I absolute love. We upload Singing covers to YouTube, however with us both being full time acting students we often don’t have time to sit down and set up the camera. It was getting me down that I wasn’t sharing as many singing videos I would like. Then I thought of making short Instgram story videos of us singing, inbetween our main ones uploaded on to YouTube. I didn’t know if anyone would watch them and mainly, it was just because I love doing it so much! But the reception I got after the first time we posted was crazy. For the full 24 hours they were on I was getting message after message saying how much people liked them. It was so overwhelming and definitely made me want to keep posting them. So this month I am going to bribe Harry into making up some on the spot harmonies with me. If you’re not already, make sure you’re following me so you don’t miss out.

YouTube Collaboration

This leads on nicely from the point before (it’s like I planned that or something). You are probably not aware but I have a YouTube channel. The reason I say you are probably not aware is that my videos are very few and far between. So far my channel consists of singing videos and travel vlogs. I am a big watcher of YouTubers but when I think about the content I like to watch, it’s mainly fashion and beauty videos. So it seems silly that those aren’t the videos I’m making. My best friend Nicole and I have been wanting sit down and film a video together for ages now, but never got round to it. This month however, I’m not letting the any opportunity pass me by! I will get her sat down in front of the camera with me to talk about some of our new style pieces. If you haven’t already, head over to my channel and subscribe so you don’t miss it!

What goals are you currently working towards? Leave me a comment below and I will of course reply. Thank you for reading.
