Let’s talk lips. For years I would do a full face of makeup and miss out lips completely, if I was feeling fancy I may slap on some lip balm but that was about the extent of it. To me it was too much of a faf, whether you were planning to eat, drink or kiss that special someone the thought of having to reapply the colour was just too much like hard work. Now things are a tad different, I’m hooked. I’m still not the most adventurous when it comes to lip shades but I think getting the right colour is the perfect way to pull together your makeup look. Here is a run down of the shades I’ve been reaching for most over the past few months and ones I’m nearly certain will be repurchased once they’re too stubby to use.
Rimmel 107 is a very well-known shade, from October to the end of December it’s pretty much the only thing I wear, as you could probably tell from my Instagram this Christmas. I don’t particularly suit red lips but this deep, almost burgundy shade would complement virtually everyone’s complexion and is a must for the winter months.
Charlotte Tilbury Stoned Rose is a recent addition to my collection, yes the packaging is a massive selling point but the shade and formulae of Charlotte Tilbury lip products is also great and just about justifies the price tag. I’m now eyeing up the shade Bitch Perfect from the range, it looks like a great every day understated tone.
Bobby Brown Soft Coral. Bobby Brown is a brand I love, and definitely one I want to try out more. This lipstick is a coral orange shade perfect for summer. It brightens up your face in seconds and is a bit more out there than my normal neutral pink shades.
Revlon Blushing Mauve (460) This is a great drug store alternative for any girl working on a budget it’s a great easy to wear shade that would struggle to not suit everyone. It’s a sheen like formula which means it’s very subtle and so doesn’t require much up keep throughout the day. A great one for someone just starting out wearing makeup.
Mac Plumfull was mentioned seven months or so ago on this blog. Lipsticks and liners are without a doubt my favourite Mac product and to be honest they’re the only things I buy from their counter these days. Mac has a vast range of pinky shades. Plumfull has a permanent spot in my handbag throughout the seasons, as my go-to shade. It’s not much darker than my natural lip colour and I find it suits my olive undertone.
If you could only pick one lipstick to carry around in your handbag everyday what would it be?
